The Charleston Academy of Musical Theater (CAMT) believes that all children have a natural talent waiting to be awakened. Our Musical Theatre training program is lead by national award-winning children's theatre director Courtney Sarre and international opera singer Diana Flaherty. CAMT prides itself in providing a nurturing environment where students will develop skills in acting, voice, and dance.

Musical Theatre Workshop (Grades 6-10th)
This workshop is designed to help teach and refine students’ skills in musical theatre and give them the experience of putting on a mini production from auditions to final performance. Focus will be on character development, choreography and vocals as students work on a 30 minute length show, a SEUSSICAL themed Mini-Musical. The session will end with a performance for friends and family during the last class. No previous experience required.
Grades: 6-10th
Dates: Fridays August 21 - Dec.11 (No class 10/9, 11/27)

MUSICAL THEATRE CLASSES for Elementary School Children
Does your child love to sing and dance? These classes will have your child engaged and give them a chance to explore their interests. Students will work on numbers from popular Broadway musicals developing skills in singing, acting, and choreography. The session will end with a classroom performance for family featuring your rising superstars!

ACTING: Acting & Improv
Learn to act with creativity and spontaneity! Join Mr. Mekhi for this engaging acting class. This session of improvisational games, unique performance tactics, and creative theatrical exploration will have students connecting with classmates through bonding and trust-building activities. This engaging hour-long class will challenge students to collaborate, act with their gut-reactions, and cultivate storylines and characters that capture audiences. No previous experience required.

CAMT is offering Musical Theatre Dance Technique classes and Tap Technique classes specifically designed to enhance skills for those in our performance companies. Vocal Technique for Musical Theatre - Invitation only
This small-group class is designed for dedicated singers ready to strengthen their vocal technique. Instruction is individualized, meeting each student where they are and focusing on the specific skills they need to grow. Students build a strong technical foundation while developing healthy vocal habits, musicianship, and performance skills in a supportive group setting. The class culminates in an intimate in-class performance for family showcasing each student's progress.

LunchTime Theatre at COK-SM
Giving more kids a way to experience the theatre is one of our greatest aspirations.
We are proud to be able to offer theatre classes once a week during the
2026-2027 school year for grades 1-4 at Christ Our King - Stella Maris School.
These classes are held during student lunch and recess periods and culminate in
a performance for family and friends!
