The Charleston Academy of Musical Theater (CAMT) believes that all children have a natural talent waiting to be awakened. Our Musical Theatre training program is lead by national award-winning children's theatre director Courtney Sarre and international opera singer Diana Flaherty.  CAMT prides itself in providing a nurturing environment where students will develop skills in acting, voice, and dance.

2025 FALL Session

Classes begin the week of August 19, 2025

and run until December 12, 2025

​(no classes week of thanksgiving)

Lower Elementary:

Musical Theatre Class (Grades 1-3) 

Does your child love to sing and dance? This introductory class will have your child engaged and give them a chance to explore their interests. Students will work on numbers from popular Broadway musicals developing skills in singing, acting, and choreography. The session will end with a showcase of talents for friends and family featuring your rising superstars!

Ages: 1st -3rd Grade

Dates: Fridays

Time: 3:30-4:30 pm

Location: 589 Belle Hall Pkwy, Mount Pleasant

Upper Elementary:

Musical Theatre Class (Grades 3-5) 

Does your child love to sing and dance? This introductory class will have your child engaged and give them a chance to explore their interests. Dates: Tuesdays

Time: 3:30-4:30 pm

Musical Theatre Workshop (Grades 1-3) & (Grades4-6) 

Get ready to "Move It!" on a jungle adventure!  This workshop is designed to help teach and refine students’ skills in musical theatre and give them the experience of putting on a mini production from auditions to final performance. Focus will be on character development, choreography and vocals as students work on a 30 minute length show, a MADAGASCAR themed Mini-Musical. The session will end with a performance for friends and family. No previous experience required.

Days: Wednesdays

Time: 3:15 - 4:45 pm

Location: East Cooper Montessori School, Mount Pleasant

This workshop has two levels, please choose the appropriate age bracket

ECMT1-3F: Grades 1st-3rd

ECMT4-6F: Grades 4th-6th

Musical Theatre Workshop (Grades 4-8)   

This workshop is designed to help teach and refine students’ skills in musical theatre and give them the experience of putting on a mini production from auditions to final performance. Acting: Scene Study  (Grades 6-8)

Join Mr. Mekhi for an engaging class that delves into the fundamental aspects of acting theory, various techniques, character development, and essential stage terminology. This course encourages students to explore the authenticity of their characters, deepening their connection to the roles they embody. Ideal for all levels no previous experience is necessary. A significant focus will be on scene study, where participants will analyze and perform both comedic and dramatic scenes, receiving constructive feedback from instructor and peers. This hands-on practice is vital for grasping character motivations and relationships, ultimately honing their acting abilities. No previous experience required.

Ages: 6-8th Grades

Dates: Wednesdays, Sept.3 - Dec 3 (no class 11/26)

Times: 5:30-6:30pm

LunchTime Theatre at COK-SM

Giving more kids a way to experience the theatre is one of our greatest aspirations. 

We are proud to be able to offer theatre classes once a week during the

2025-26 school year for grades 1-4 at Christ Our King - Stella Maris School. 

These classes are held during student lunch and recess periods and culminate in

a performance for family and friends!

Our students in this program were able to perform publicly the 68th Annual COK-SM Bazaar,

and most recently performed scenes from

Willy Wonka & Finding Nemo for family members.
