Musical Theatre Camp: Disney Musical Mashup (MTSC-DMM1-3)

Our staff “can't hold it back anymore” we’ve got to let you know about our incredible Disney Musical Mashup camp!  Join us for a fun-filled week of songs and scenes from Disney musicals in this ½ day summer camp session where “we got no troubles, and life is the bubbles!” Our skilled staff will help our campers develop budding talents, explore acting, singing, and dancing techniques designed to help introduce and strengthen performing skills, and harness their imaginative and creative energies into an end-of-week performance that will surely show our students “a whole new world.” Don’t let this opportunity go! Songs and scenes will be selected from popular Disney musicals like Frozen, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, which will be paired expertly with carefully crafted and themed educational experiences that will ensure our performers will make some magical moments! This 5-day camp culminates in an end-of-week performance on stage for family.

Choreo Intensive: Dance Technique & Partnering (CH-DT5-8)

Excited to explore the world of dance? Join us for an exciting five-day dance intensive exploring ballet, contemporary, jazz, and musical theatre! Dancers will strengthen their technique through daily conditioning, stretching, and focused style classes designed to build versatility and confidence. A special highlight of the week is beginning partnering, where students will develop physical communication, trust, and teamwork while learning assisted movements and introductory lifts in a safe, supportive environment. Students will also explore improvisation and perform choreography set to iconic numbers from famous musicals. This five day camp will conclude with an end-of-the-week showcase for family!

Main Stage Production: A Musical Extravaganza (MTSC MSP9-12/MSP6-8)

Calling all theatre kids! Come be a part of a staged musical theatre revue at the Lucy Beckham High School Performing Arts Center - featuring show stopping numbers from some of Broadway’s most beloved musicals, specifically selected to highlight our campers’ talents. This 6-day musical theatre intensive is the perfect place for our students who have a passion to perform and want to hone their craft and showcase it on stage. Under the guidance and direction of several of Charleston’s most accomplished children's theatre educators, this musical medley showcase will enable our young artists to work with fun and exciting age-appropriate materials while receiving dedicated and detailed instruction on advanced voice, movement and acting techniques, exploring a variety of styles of musical theatre in a professional training environment. During the rehearsal process, students will be trained in the areas of character development, ensemble acting, improvisation, harmonization, and audition skills to develop musical theatre’s new generation of confident and well-rounded performers.  To showcase their newly developed skills, campers will perform songs and scenes learned during the camp in a staged musical revue for family and friends on Saturday, June 20.

 

Two Break-Out Levels will perform on stage the same day.

“We’re all in this together!” as we “Bop to the Top” in this High School Musical themed summer camp! Students will spend their week learning songs, scenes and choreography from the hit musical, and maybe this will be “the start of something new” for your child! The week will culminate in a classroom presentation production that will be custom tailored to the development and strengths of our young artists. Campers will get the tactical experience of putting on a show from start-to-finish, starting with structured auditions, daily rehearsals, and ending with a performance for friends and family.  During this camp, students will receive personalized instruction, dedicated attention, and lots of choreo from the musical. Musical Theatre Camp: Thirteen the Musical (MTSC THIR6-9)

Don’t miss this “O-P-P, opportunity!”  Join us as we get ready for a Thirteen the Musical themed summer camp. Students will spend their week learning songs, scenes and choreography from this hit musical about growing up. The week will culminate in a classroom presentation production that will be custom tailored to the development and strengths of our young artists. Campers will get the tactical experience of putting on a show from start-to-finish, starting with structured auditions, daily rehearsals, and ending with a performance for family.  During this intensive, students will receive personalized instruction, dedicated attention, and lots of choreo from the musical.

Musical Theatre Intensive: Best of Broadway (MTSC INT4-6) (MTSC INT7-9)

Anything is possible in this full day musical theatre intensive with internationally renowned Soprano, Mrs. Diana Flaherty. Join us for one week of extensive professional training culminating in a mini-musical production that will be custom tailored to the development and strengths of our young artists. Campers will get the tactical experience of putting on a show from start-to-finish, starting with structured auditions, daily rehearsals, and ending with a stage performance for friends and family. This tailored and unique intensive will enable our campers to have specialized training in voice, acting, and dance while working collaboratively as a team to put together a final production for the stage.

Musical Theatre Intensive: DUETS (MTSC INT9-12+) By Invitation Only

Come and polish off your skills with our distinguished faculty member Diana Flaherty in this  Master Class that will focus on developing the unique skills that come along with scene work and vocal duets. This intensive provides students with a daily, 30-minute, one-on-one vocal session with internationally renowned soprano, Diana Flaherty. Students will receive scene coaching and choreography, as well. This workshop is very limited, and in turn will sell out fast, so make sure that you secure your spot. To achieve a high level of individualized instruction we are limiting this camp to only 10 students. The week culminates with a recorded showcase* of works and students will walk away from this camp with new and refined skills in acting and singing, as well as the unique lessons that come along with this!

Acting Camp: Mad Lib Theatre  (MTSC MLT3-5)

Are you ready for a hilarious good time? Try our Mad Lib Theatre where the students create the narrative to our acting scenes for some crazy, old fashioned fun!  If your child loves to create their own show, now they can be a part of the collective creative process as our students come up with quirky story lines for scene work with some unexpected twists. Students will collaborate on several different theatrical scenes throughout the week to develop acting skills.

Acting Camp: Wizarding World of Harry Potter (MTSC HP3-6) 

Want to enter the Wizarding World but never received your letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? Now’s your chance to pick up your wand and join us on an expertly themed 5-day Hogwarts experience, including the scientific curriculum of Professor Slughorn’s Potions class, Hagrid’s magical zoology experiments, Professor McGonagall’s famous yule ball dance techniques, and Harry Potter’s tips & tricks to becoming head student. This camp will use fun theatre games and acting techniques to build confident performance skills, and be paired expertly with carefully crafted and themed educational experiences that will ensure our performers will make some magical moments! Our five day Hogwarts experience will culminate in an end-of-the week performance on stage for family.

Choreo Intensive: Footloose (CH FL4-5/FL6-8)

“Kick off your Sunday Shoes” and join us on Monday 7/27 for one week of extensive professional training in the songs and choreography from FOOTLOOSE culminating in a mini-musical production that will be custom tailored to the development and strengths of our young artists. “Everybody Cut Loose!” Campers will get the tactical experience of putting on a show from start-to-finish, starting with structured auditions, daily rehearsals, and ending with a performance for family.  During this intensive, students will receive personalized instruction, dedicated attention, and lots of choreo from the musical.
